Lack of Vision

Once you have decided to grow your company, it becomes your job as the CEO to forge a vision for your firm to spur that growth. By having a vision, you give purpose to your firm, provide something your staff can rally behind, and assist in decision-making. Having a vision is an essential part of growth and predicates the actions you take and the targets you set in your firm. If you do not have a vision for what the company will look like after its growth, then you will find yourself directionless and hard-pressed to even grow.

However, what do you envision? It is hard to imagine something you do not know, and you will often temper your vision to make it more realistic. Strike a balance between something impossible and something you could hit if your growth snowballs into something much bigger than you are. One thing you can do to help you craft your vision is to visit companies that are bigger than your own. Make it a point to go out and see what is possible, this way you do not limit your vision too severely.

This is why we like to use the simple phrase, “See it & Achieve it!” At first, you will feel constrained by your company’s profit, if you are stuck at a million, envisioning a 5 or even 10-million-dollar business is not going to be easy because it exists outside of your experience. Your vision needs to reach beyond where you currently sit within your organization.
