Just as a roadmap connects us from one place to another so that we can plan our journeys accordingly, a business roadmap connects a business from its current position to one in the future. It allows business owners to see a high-level view of what to expect on that particular journey.

A business may have multiple roadmaps – depending on how many areas of the business are active and targeted for growth.  A roadmap can also be considered as the Strategic Plan for what the company is aiming to accomplish and when it will do so. It is a visualization of specific aspects of your business worked into a plan in a given time frame and contains active and upcoming work at a high level. This overview approach is a helpful way for business owners to measure how well the company is tracking towards achieving its business plan.
